Container ship CMA CGM MISSOURI ran aground in Suez Canal while transiting in southern direction, at around 0930 UTC Oct 14. As of 1745 UTC, probably refloated or moved, several Suez Canal tugs attending. Traffic probably suspended, but it’s not confirmed. No information on what caused grounding.

CG JACOB POROO Coast Guar cutter rescued three castaways and three dogs

The US Coast Guard rescued three boaters and three dogs from a 40-foot shrimp boat taking on water on Oct 13, 2020, near Pascagoula, Mississippi. Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a radio call at 7:47 a.m. via VHF Channel 16 from the 'Jacob Poroo', reporting a person in the water holding on to a life ring in the Pascagoula Ship Channel. The 'Jacob Poroo'’s 26-Foot Over the Horizon-IV crew and a Coast Guard Station Pascagoula 29-Foot Response Boat-Small II launched to assist. The cutter boatcrew arrived on scene first and recovered all three people and all three dogs. Two of the people were found holding onto a life ring, and the third person was found separated from the group and holding onto a floating board. None of them were wearing life jackets. The boaters were transported safely to Station Pascagoula, where first responders were waiting. Two boaters suffered from minor injuries and one reportedly suffered from mild hyperthermia.

YM EVEREST Double trouble

The 'YM Everest', en route from Gdansk to Tarragona, needed to replace the filter and to repair the engine leakage in position 49 46 26 N, 003 30 88 W, on Oct 13, 2020, at 10.35 p.m. The vessel continued its voyage after repairs by the crew. It was loaded with 15670.64 tons of grain. On Oct 14 short past midnight the ship encountered the same leakage issue. After repairs were completed, the ship was underway again at 2 a.m. with an ETA as of Oct 19.

MV SEABORNE CARGO 7 Grounding on Mabaw Reef

The 'Seaborne Cargo 7' ran aground on the Mabaw Reef off the Tagbilaran-Maribojoc bay, due to poor visibility on Oct 13, 2020. The vessel failed to notice an unlighted buoy in the vicinity of Mabaw reef, which caused it to hit a coral reef. No damage reported on the vessel which was en route from Manila Port to Tagbilaran City with a cargo of containers. Initial reports from the Tagbilaran Coast Guard Sub-Station (TGCS) revealed that a section of the reef has sustained serious damage where it was struck by the hull of vessel. The 'Seaborne Cargo 7' was sailing at its normal speed of 12.3 knots when it hit a shallow portion of the reef.

SANTORINI Engine failure in Istanbul Strait

The 'Santorini', while en route from Burgas to Cadiz, suffered a loss of power and went adrift towards the shore at Kanlica point in the Istanbul Strait on Oct 14, 2020, at a a.m. The Coastal safety tugs 'Kurtarma-5', 'Kurtarma-11' and a fast rescue boat together with a technical team attended to provide assistance. The 'Santorini' was towed to Istanbul anchorage by the tugs. An incident investigation file was placed by both Harbour Master and the strait authority. The 'Santorini' was imposed a fine due to the breach of strait safe passage regulation. On Oct 15 the ship remained moored in pos. 40° 59.43' N 028° 58.29' E.

IAN M Perpetrators stole ship's equipment

The 'Ian M.' was boarded by three perpetrators while underway in position 01 17 40N, 104 20 00E, in the Eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme in the Singapore Strait, on Oct 13, 2020, at 4.40 p.m. The crew searched the vessel and did not find any of the perpetrators who must have fled the vessel. The search concluded that one lifebuoy and several welding rods were missing, presumed stolen by the perpetrators. The vessel continued its passage to its next port of call, Rizhao.

GANJ Bulkcarrier boarded by robbers

The 'Ganj', being underway in position 01 16 12N, 104 13 54E, in the Singapore Strait, was boarded by three perpetrators  in an attempt to steal merchandise on Oct 10, 2020, at 3.26 p.m.  The crew members sighted the three perpetrators at the stern of the vessel. When the alarm has raised, the perpetrators fled the vessel and escaped. The incident was reported to the Singapore Port Operations Control Centre. The crew members searched the store inventory of the vessel, and no objects were reported stolen. Following the incident, the vessel continued its voyage to Fangcheng.
