JAGUAR S Detention off Lebanon

The 'Jaguar S', while en route from Kali Limenes, was detained by the Lebanese Customs while at anchor off the coast of Zahrani, South Lebanon, as of Oct 3, 2020. The tanker raised suspicions when it anchored in pos. 33° 31.82' N 035° 19.37' E in Lebanese waters on Oct 3, even though it was expected by neither official sources nor private companies. The vessel was revealed to be carrying a fuel shipment, but its destination was a mystery at the time of its arrival, as was the reason behind the vessel entering Lebanese waters. The vessel was detained while an investigation was launched. Later it was discovered that its intended destination was Syria, and that its owner was a Syrian company. However, the vessel remained in custody until the investigation has revealed why the vessel arrived specifically in Zahrani

HOEGH NEW YORK Medevac off Pylos

A crew member of the 'Hoegh New York' fell ill and needed immediate hospital treatment on Oct 6, 2020, while the vessel was enroute from Piraeus to Valletta. The Greek Coastguard deployed a helicopter to the ship which was sailing southwest of Pylos, to medevac the 46-year-old man. He was hoisted and taken to the military airport of Kalamata from where an ambulance transported him to the General Hospital of Messinia.

COLOR MAGIC Passenger tested positive for COVID-19 after ferry trip

One passenger who travelled on the 'Color Magic' from Sep 30, 2020, to Oct 2 showed COVID-19 symptoms on the day he arrived in Oslo. He has now been confirmed infected with corona. The Color Line was notified by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) of the infection on in the night of Oct 5. The person was asymptomatic on board. The person developed symptoms on Oct 3, was tested on Oct 4 and received a positive test confirmed on Oct 5. Color Line sent out information to all passengers and employees who have been on that voyage. There were 706 passengers on board during the two-day cruise. All passengers have been notified of the infection via SMS and e-mail. They have been asked to monitor their state of health and contact the health service if they developed symptoms.

Crew member tested positive for COVID-19

On Sep 10, 2020, a crew member of the 'Color Magic' which sails between Oslo and Kiel, was tested positive for COVID 12. The departure from Oslo on Sep 12 has now been canceled. The man a dancer who's part of the entertainment staff. Color Line requires that employees coming from red countries be quarantined for one day before boarding the ferry. This has been done for the person in question.  Then it was discovered during a test that the person was infected. The person has not had any symptoms. He and his colleagues were immediately quarantined. There was no contact with passengers. All crew members were now tested. Color Line has sent a message to all passengers who were on board from 10 to 12 September and encouraged to follow their own state of health.

Passenger went over board and died

A German passenger went over board from the 'Color Magic' at the end of the Oslo Fjord while the ferry was enroute from Oslo to Kiel in the Skagerrak on March 4, 2020, at 5.29 p.m. On the spot the temparature was is around five degrees and the wind blew with five meters per second. A major SAR operation was launched. A Swedish and a Norwegian helicopter as well as the ferry 'Color Hybrid', ennroute between Strømstad and Sandefjord, as well as Norwegian fishing vessels had participated in the search. At 7.45 p.m. the ferries were released and resumed their voyages, while three Swedish lifeboars continued. At 7.54 p.m. he was located west of Strömstad, hoisted by a helicopter from Rygge and taken to a Norwegian hospital where he was pronounced dead. The relatives were informed.

DIAVLOS FORCE Tug arrested due to outstanding salaries

The 'Diavlos Force' has been arrested in Langevåg after it towed the hull of the cable layer "Leonardo da Vinci" from Tulca on Aug 11, 2020, to the Vard's shipyard in Brattvåg in Sunnmøre. The crew has not been paid their salaries, and after the arrival on Sep 11 the ship was thus detained.

Propeller trouble in Montreal

The "Diavlos Force" suffered problems with the controllable pitch propeller and was disabled while berthing in Montreal, Quebec, in position 45 33 27.8 N, 73 31 24.3 W, on May 3, 2019, at 2 p.m. The vessel was secured alongside with the assistance of tugs and the crew made repairs. By May 7, the ship was still berthed at the Racine Container Terminal.

Hanseatic inspiration heads to Norway for interior fittings under tow by Diavlos Force

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ expedition ship Hanseatic inspiration has begun its journey from Vard’s shipyard in Romania to its shipyard in Norway for interior outfitting.  After Vard’s Romanian yard completed work on the outer hull, the 6,500-tonne Hanseatic inspiration began the 4,000-mile journey pulled by deep-sea tugboat Diavlos Force, which is expected to last between 24 and 28 days.   Set to enter service in Antwerp, Belgium in October 2019, the 230-guest expedition ship is part of a new class of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

HWA GWO NO6 Grounded longliner to be scuttled

The ‘Hwa Gwo No. 6' ran aground on Sep 17, 2020, on a reef off the island of Yap and suffered a leak. The crew of nine was rescued and was quarantined for 28 days. They have since twice been tested negative for COVID-19. They were accomodated in tents at the harbour. A third test should be carried out at the end of the quarantine period. Until then the fishermen were guarded. The fuel and catch of four tons were recovered from the ship which had been working for Liancheng Overseas Fishery Co. Ltd. The Kaoshiung-based ship was to be recovered and sunk 12 miles off the southern tip of the island.

W.B. YEATS Crew member fell over board and remained missing

On Oct 5, 2020, at 9 p.m. a crew member fell over board the 'W.B. Yeats' in the Irish Sea, while the ferry was operating the Dublin to Holyhead route. A search was launched which was being overseen by the HM Coastguard in Holyhead in Wales, the Irish Coast Guard was providing assistance and provided an aircraft on Oct 6 from about 12.30 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Oct 6, but there was no trace of the missing crew member. The overnight search was unsuccessful.

Ferry arrived in Cherbourg

The "W.B. Yeats" which departed from Flensburg on Dec 15, has taken a different delivery route bound for Ireland.. AFter sailing from the shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) in Flensburg, itheaded northward into the Kattegat. Between Saeby and Læsø the Latvian flagged bunker tanker "Zircon" supplied the ferry with fuel. On Dec 18 at 9.30 a.m. the ship berthed in Cherbourg. The cruiseferry is to enter service in mid-March 2019.

New ferry handed over in Flensburg

The "W.B. Yeats" has been handed over to Irish Ferries on Dec 12, 2018. The ship, originally due to have been delivered in July, and subsequently delayed until September, was finally expected to arrive in Dublin next week. The delays and cancellations disrupted the holiday plans of around 19,000 customers.
The setback was due to what German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft & Co.KG described this summer as delays in the delivery of interior components for public areas and on the electrical system installation in the hull and deckhouse.
Sailings between Dublin Port and Cherbourg are now available to book for 2019, with the new ship set to begin serving the route from mid-March. It will provide passengers with a unique and memorable cruise-style travel experience and can accommodate 1,800 passengers across 440 cabins, including luxury suites with stunning private balcony sea views and a dedicated butler service.
Décor will feature famous works of literature from Yeats and other well-known artists and entertainment is provided at The Abbey and The Peacock cinema.

KM SABUK NUSANTARA 55 Ferry disabled off Kera island

The KM 'Sabuk Nusantara 55' suffered steering damage on Oct 2, 2020, at 8.30 a.m. in East Nusa Tenggara, in pos. 09-51-12 S 123-26-10 E, about 16 miles north of Kera Island. The 50 passengers were successfully evacuated and taken to shore by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation. The evacuation was carried out by the patrol boat 'KNP 340' of the Kupang Port Authority and Port Authority Office (KSOP). The tug 'Servewell' was also immediately moved to the scene, carrying supplies for all passengers, before she started towing the 'Belt Nusantara 55' to Tenau Kupang Port at 12.55 p.m. with a speed of 3.5 knots. The ship docked at the port of Tenau at 5.30 p.m. The ferry had been enroute from the port of Menanga, Solor, East Flores, to Tenau Kupang Port.

Cargo ship CONG THANH 27 with 12 crew on board reportedly flooding in South China sea off Vietnam coast north of Danang, moving along coastline at a slow speed. Understood water ingress started early in the morning Oct 7, while the ship was en route from Hai Phong to Hai Tho, southern Vietnam. The ship reduced speed and headed for coast. As of 1600 UTC, latest available AIS position was dated 0900 UTC Oct 7.
