Avec les photos on a l'impression d'y être

hellooooooooo,

sans le savoir, je suis descendu sur Ostende ce samedi.
et surprise - surprise......
l'événement ''Ostend voor anker'' rien que pour nos yeux.
voici quelque photos....



tellement enchanté, le dimanche je retournais sur place pour admirer encore ces beaux voiliers prendre la mer.



l'année prochaine, je me tiendrai au courant et j'espère pouvoir encore en profiter.
bien-sûr, la ZMFN était présente....



ce qui m'a le plus enchanté, c'est de voir le Melisse...

But now to the actual history of the "USN P22" or "S-3221".

The P22, was one of 17 patrol boats built in 1952 for the U.S. Navy Rhine River Patrol. The boats were built, to U.S. Navy specification, by Hitzler, a German shipbuilder in Regensburg. These were of a type 21 model.

The boat was used by the Krefelder river engineer company 832 with the designation "S-3221". It would be nice to have contact with old Krefelder comrades.

It was overhauled in Germany by Hilgers in Rheinbrohl in 1974.

P22 / S3221 was sold to private owners in 1979 by VEBEG, who dispose of military equipment. Sadly it sank in a canal in Scotland. This was due to a plate above the starboard propeller rusting away.

After it was lifted and repaired, it was moved to Allington / Maidstone KENT. and was renamed "VELO 2".

After heavy damage to the starboard bow, it was sold again and moved to Hoo/Rochester by the present owners. The restoration began in April 2001. The first photograph was taken 23rd December 2001. P22 was relaunched in July 2003 and the restoration continued on water.

One can see in the pictures, the boat was scrap iron! But thanks to the Lanagham family and their friends, was completely restored, inside as well.

To date, there are possibly 12 of these boats left :-
Two, the Meuse and the Schelde are in Belgian museums.
- Thalassa (Private owned)
- Pirat (Private owned)
- P22 Velo II (Private owned. Rochester UK)
- P901 Belgian Radar School
- P904 French Sea Cadets
- P902 Liberation Belgian Navy VIP Boat. Still in service.
- P907 Rupel
- P ? Atlante French Cadets
- Possibly 2 more boats. Names and locations not known

Du groupe j'ai une photo mais pas de Doggy (pas osé quelque fois qu'il m'aurait réclamer des droit d'auteur )

L'Atlante a coulé je sais plus où
Et le Leie navigue avec les BNC (Belgian Navy Cadet) un mouvement dissident du CRCM-KMK, mouvement comme l'a dit Doggy plus haut aux tendances un peu "heie"...

mais j'étais sur le sol, en quoi aurais-je réclamé des droits d'hauteur, mmmh??
