PHILIPPINE SEA (March 7, 2017) A missile is launched from the aft missile deck of the forward-deployed Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) during Multisail 17. Multisail 17 is a bilateral training exercise improving interoperability between the U.S. and Japanese forces. PACIFIC OCEAN (May 11, 2017) The guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) participates in a simulated strait transit during a Group Sail training exercise (GRUSL) with the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG). GRUSL is the first step in the Theodore Roosevelt’s integrated training phase and aims to enhance mission readiness and warfighting capabilities between the ships, air wing and the staffs of the TRCSG through simulated and real-world scenarios.
