Marine herdenkt aanslagen New York

Diverse NAVO-marinebemanningen hebben gisteren in New York de terroristische aanval op het World Trade Center herdacht. De Koninklijke Marine was breed vertegenwoordigd bij de ceremonie op het Deense schip HDMS Thetis.

Commandant Zeestrijdkrachten, luitenant-generaal der mariniers Rob Zuiderwijk, schout-bij-nacht Matthieu Borsboom en delegaties van Hr. Ms. Urk, Tromp en Van Speijk waren aanwezig op de plechtigheid bij de Marine Terminal in Brooklyn. De Marinierskapel verzorgde de muzikale omlijsting.

De ceremonie werd geleid door de commandant van het permanente mijnenbestrijdingsflottielje van de NAVO, kolonel Henrik Holck Rasmussen. Bij zonsondergang werd de halfstok hangende vlag gestreken, waarna 2 lichtkolommen op Manhattan werden ontstoken die de gevallen torens symboliseren.

Slachtoffers herdacht tijdens kerkdienst
Eerder op de dag trad de Marinierskapel op tijdens een kerkdienst ter ere van kroonprins Willem-Alexander en prinses Maxima in West End Collegiate Church. Deze kerk werd in 1628 door Nederlandse kolonialisten gesticht en is daarmee de oudste kerk van New York.

Tijdens de dienst werden de slachtoffers van 11 september 2001 herdacht. Speciale aandacht ging uit naar Ingeborg Lariby, het enige Nederlandse slachtoffer dat op die dag gevallen is. Eveneens werd stilgestaan bij de onlangs in Afghanistan gesneuvelde militairen, korporaal Kevin van de Rijdt en sergeant-majoor Mark Leijsen.

Le Lobelia sera ouvert au public new-yorkais ce week-end :

All the ships will be open to the public on Saturday, September 12 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Sunday, September 13 the NATO ships will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM; the Dutch ships will at that time be taking part in the Harbor Day flotilla.

Bonjour à tous, ce matin j'ai fait des recherches sur le web pour trouver l'endroit exact où était amarré le Lobelia à New York.

Alors, grâce au blog http://brooklynheightsblog.com on sait que le Lobelia est amarré au "Pier 7" à "Brooklyn Heights" :

Docked at the south side of Pier 7, front to rear, are: KNM Rauma, BNS Lobelia, and HNLMS Tromp.

Alors, j'ai essayé de trouver le "Pier 7" à "Brooklyn Heights" et voici une vue générale où l'on voit le quartier de "Brooklyn Heights" et les quais où doit se trouver le "Pier 7":

Malheureusement je n'ai pas réussi à trouver les n° des quais et donc je ne sais pas lequel de ces quais est le "Pier 7" ? Alors si quelqu'un trouvait des infos sur l'endroit exact du "Pier 7" ce serait super

J'ai trouvé une autre photo (prise hier le 12 quand les navires été ouvert au public) où l'on voit d'un autre angle le "Pier 7" avec sur la gauche la frégate holandaise F803 Tromp (qui empêche de voir le Lobelia qui est amarré juste devant) et sur la droite la frégate holandaise F828 Van Speijk avec deux chasseurs de mines canadien amarrés devant :

Dutch, NATO ships open for tours at Brooklyn docks

As part of the NY400 Week events, Dutch Navy and other NATO ships will be open for tours in Brooklyn this weekend.

The Dutch HNLMS Van Speijk and minesweeper Urk will be open today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., along with several North Atlantic Treaty Organization ships. But on Sunday, the Dutch ships will cast off to take part in the Harbor Day flotilla.

The ships are docked at the seldom-public Brooklyn Marine Terminal, located at the end of Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. (Both the B61 and B63 buses stop nearby.)

Nearby on Sunday, the Dutch Flat Bottomed Fleet — including a Musik, historic boats more than a century old, as well as modern recreations of other historic vessels — will be berthed in the Atlantic Basin (next to the Brooklyn Cruise Ship terminal.)

Their arrival will be open to the public from 5 to 7p.m. Sunday.

Ca y est, j'ai localisé exactement où est amarré le Lobelia à New York

Alors, le fameux "Pier 7" se trouve dans le "Red Hook Container Terminal" à Brooklyn :

Voici une autre photo où l'on voit le HMS Quorn passer devant la statue de la liberté le 8 septembre 2009. Le Lobelia doit se trouver devant ou derrière mais malheureusement il n'y a pas de photo !

21-gun salute in Hudson will kickstart NY400 Week

This morning’s Welcoming Ceremony will officially kick off NY400 Week events to mark the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s sighting of the river that now bears his name.

Dutch, U.S. and other NATO ships are currently arriving, heading up the Hudson River toward the USS Intrepid, where the ceremony will take place.

The latest e-mail warning from Notify NYC notes the 21-gun salute may not come precisely at 9:15 a.m., as was previosuly announced. The latest:
There will be a 21-gun salute this morning between 9-10 AM, using the main guns of the Dutch naval vessel, HMNLS Tromp. The ship will be in the vicinity of the Intrepid Museum, West 46th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattan. Expect repetitive loud noises.

Marine sluit New York Harbor Week af

Met een indrukwekkende vlootschouw werd vandaag onder stralend weer de New York Harbor Week afgesloten. Prins Willem-Alexander en prinses Máxima namen vanaf het Nederlandse fregat Hr. Ms. Tromp de vlootschouw af.....

Voilà c'est reparti, le Lobelia reprend la mer dans 2 heures , pour des exercices avec la US Navy durant 12 jours.
Le courrier est enfin arrivé, le moral semble bon mais difficile de repartir!
En tt cas merci pour les infos, meme eux sont contents de les avoir...

Sur le programme c'est marqué Norfolk/Little Creek mais je suppose que c'est soit Norfolk soit Little Creek ?
