How To Use the SAR Contacts Website
Home Page – SARContacts.info

On the home page, the Search and Rescue Contacts (SAR Contacts) tool is used to find Search and Rescue contacts worldwide.

A) By Country – You can choose to get a list of SAR/Country Contacts by country and display these on a map.

   Select a country from the Country drop-down list.
   Select a country by MID (Maritime Identification Digits).

The results will contain both SAR Contacts (type of ARCC, JRCC, MRCC, MRSC) and Country Contacts (type of CRS, NSA, OTHER, SAR-DP) in two formats:

   A map of the Contacts that have a latitude and longitude entered for them.
   A list of the Contacts, displaying information Type, Country, SRR, Telephone, and Email.
       By clicking on the “View / Hide Contact Info” button more information is revealed:
       Fax, Website, INMARSAT, Telex, Location (decimal Latitude, Longitude), Notes, “Submit A Change Request”

B) By Latitude & Longitude – You can get a list of SAR Contacts in the SRR containing the point defined by the latitude / longitude, and display all Contacts on a map.

   Degrees / Minutes format
       Enter the latitude and longitude degrees and minutes with the direction;
       Click on the GO button or hit the enter key

OR

   Decimal format / Address
       Enter the latitude and longitude separated by a comma OR enter the address of the location and;
       Click on the GO button or hit the enter key

The results will contain both SAR Contacts (type of ARCC, JRCC, MRCC, MRSC) and Country Contacts (type of CRS, NSA, OTHER, SAR-DP) in two formats:

   A map of all Contacts that have a latitude and longitude entered for them.
   A list of the all Contacts in the SRR containing the point displaying information Type, Country, SRR, Telephone, and Email.
       By clicking on the “View / Hide Contact Info” button more information is revealed:

Country & SRR Pages

When you click on a Country or SRR link in the Contact list results from a Lat/Long, Country, or MID search, it will open up the page specific to the Country/SRR.

Each Country and SRR page has its own web address (i.e. URL) and so it can be bookmarked.  For example:

   Country page for Canada = http://sarcontacts.info/countries/canada/
   SRR page for SRR Argentina = http://sarcontacts.info/srrs/ar_arg/

Contact Pages

When you click on Title of a Contact in the Contact list results from a Lat/Long, Country, or MID search it will open up the page specific to the Contact.

Each Contact page has its own web address (i.e. URL) and so it can be bookmarked.  For example:

   Contact page for JRCC Halifax= http://sarcontacts.info/contacts/jrcc-halifax-1352/

The Contact page displays:

   All information about the Contact, including Type, Country, SRR, Latitude/Longitude, Near Address, Telephone, Email, Fax, Website, INMARSAT, Telex, and Notes.
   A button to Submit A Change Request.
   A button to show/hide the Change Request history.

Rescue coordination centre

A rescue co-ordination centre (RCC) is a primary search and rescue facility in a country that is staffed by supervisory personnel and equipped for co-ordinating and controlling search and rescue operations.

RCCs are responsible for a geographic area, known as a "search and rescue region of responsibility" (SRR). SRRs are designated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). RCCs are operated unilaterally by personnel of a single military service (e.g. an air force, or a navy) or a single civilian service (e.g. a national police force, or a coast guard).

Genres

A Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre or JRCC is a special type of RCC that is operated by personnel from multiple military services, civilian services, or a combination of military and/or civilian services.
A Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre or MRSC is a special type of RCC dedicated exclusively to organising search and rescue in a maritime environment. An MRSC usually is subservient to an RCC and is used to take the workload for a particular geographic area within the SRR.

Applications

United States - United States Coast Guard and United States Air Force are partners in Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centres under the National Search and Rescue Plan.
Canada - Canadian Coast Guard and Canadian Forces Search and Rescue (Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Canadian Navy) are partners in Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centres; CCG operates Maritime Rescue Sub-Centres to offload work from JRCC
