Container ship fire, Sri Lanka Sep 05, 2020 at 06:32.

Container ship MOL CHARISMA reportedly suffered fire in cargo hold 5 on Sep 1 E of Sri Lanka, while en route from Port Klang Malaysia to Ngava Sheva Mumbai, India. The ship reduced speed and sailed to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where she arrived early Sep 3, and was anchored. Fire was said to be extinguished by activated CO2 firefighting system, but as with all fires in cargo areas of container ships, especially if fire is in containers in holds, it takes a long time to make sure fire died and there’s no risk of re-igniting. As of 0530 UTC Sep 5, the ship was in the same position, anchored off Colombo.
